The Argentine government has decided to file a criminal complaint against former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, accusing her of alleged "fraud" for receiving an economic supplement by falsely declaring her residence in the southern region, while in reality she lived in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The head of ANSES, Mariano De Los Héros, had reported that Kirchner presented a certificate of residence in Río Gallegos, which allowed her to obtain a supplement of $6,354,523 while residing in Buenos Aires. The government, through an official resolution, established that the allowances are incompatible for those who have committed a crime in the exercise of public office.
In a document revealed by the agency Noticias Argentinas, the former vice president is accused of submitting sworn statements with false data to receive benefits for the southern region. It is mentioned that Kirchner allegedly inserted false statements in public documents and submitted them to the Ministry of Social Development.
The complaint states that the benefit was collected monthly from January 2016 to November 2011 through documents with false information, which constitutes a crime of ideological falsehood. ANSES classified the former president's actions as an act of corruption supported by international agreements against corruption.
The government has requested actions from the judge to verify Kirchner's attendance during the mentioned period, obtain information about bank movements, phone calls, and conduct handwriting and accounting tests to determine economic damage. Additionally, the Ministry of Human Capital seeks to participate as a complainant in the case arguing offenses of fraud, defrauding the Public Administration, and ideological falsehood.
The complainants pointed out that the former president resided in Buenos Aires while receiving the monthly allowances. According to reports, Kirchner would have received a total gross amount of $35,255,297.73, which is equivalent to about 136 minimum pensions. The complaint accuses Kirchner of declaring a false address for economic benefit, which is considered illicit.
